Project Details- The Computerized Social Security System (CSSS)

The specter of recession is now all over us. The prospect of economic downturn is going to engross increasing sectors of the population, pushing more and more to join the ranks of the aged, the impoverished, and all those in need of help, through loss of employment. It is in this enveloping context that the significance of the safety net could be acutely felt.
The effective and efficient implementation of the safety net is what separates life from death, dignity from humility, and social disruption from social harmony. To be able to reach out and help at the right time, at the right place, in the right amount, to those who rightly deserve it, matters.
The Department of Social Welfare is charged with administering this meaningful and yet demanding re-distribution challenge in the most equitable, most targeted and most efficient manner imaginable. And this is where IT could play a caring role in the most meticulous way.
ICO is there. ICO’s presence is crystallized into the CSSS, the Computerized Social Security System, which symbolizes the social conscience of the Hong Kong population as a whole.
The implementation of this system has successfully combines hearts with technology. It is a system which is empowering the whole of Hong Kong tax payers to do good, year on year, without failure, and rest assured.
